Internship in New Zealand
Submitted by Kristen deBarros - VCU Brandcenter | December 23, 2017
I had an amazing time interning at Grizzly Digital in New Zealand. I made many lifelong friends and connections and found New Zealand to be my home away from home. I am thankful for World Internships finding my housing and placing me in an internship. I was able to learn from my new surroundings and explore the beautiful country at the same time. Every day, I wish I could go back!

All in all a great experience that I would not have gone without. One of the best experiences I have had. However, there was a big part of the different tasks I could not be involved in because of the language barrier.
Great experience, sub-par company

I absolutely loved my experience, but some things didn't happen that should have. The person who was supposed to pick me up from the airport and give me orientation wasn't there when I arrived so I had to take a taxi from the airport. I didn't get any help from the company for the first week and then they set me up with a different company for orientation. I had no roommates even though I requested one. World Internships doesn't rate very high in my book, but you should still do it. It was an amazing experience. I wouldn't change a thing.

Thank you so much for this review! We are happy that you had a great experience in Australia even after the rocky start. We do recognize that your introduction did not go as smoothly as intended due to unfortunate circumstances, however with your suggestions and feedback we have made adjustments and are improving our operations and support abroad. Wishing you all the best for the future!

I interned on the Galapagos islands and the Amazon Rainforest for 12 weeks. It was such an incredible and life-changing experience and I would highly recommend it to anyone. I worked at a biological station and an animal rehabilitation center, which was perfect to give me a well-rounded experience.

My overall experience was great. I loved my internship, my coworkers were amazing. I fit right in right away. I loved my roommates, none were from the United States and I learned so much other countries and cultures. My only issue was with the accommodation company itself. World internships from accommodations with management companies, and the company was not very willing to assist with issues, and has horrible customer service. During my last week, they told my roommates and I to shut up on the phone then hung up. They were not willing to fix the washing machine that was broken for over a week, so I was forced to get World Internships involved to resolve the issue. However once I ed the director, I received immediate response from WI and the management company was over that night to fix it. So World Internships is great for support during my entire experience. I rarely had problems but they ensured they were fix as soon as I did. This company made it so easy to come abroad, making my dream become a reality.
Internship with turtles

It was an overall amazing experience. Something I wouldn't change for the world. Even though the internship ended abruptly due to lack of organization & communication with the team on site, it was a dream come true. It showed me how I can truly make a difference in the world by having sea turtles as coworkers! Having hands on opportunities was an advantage I'll have for the rest of my life. Going into the internship I was a little nervous knowing that I would have to do it in Spanish, however my Spanish quickly improved which will also give me the upper hand. I now can say my first internship in my field was in a different country, done in a different language, and had hands on experience you can't get anywhere else but there.

I really enjoyed my time here and although I was a little nervous coming over I couldn't be more pleased with my experience here. This experience has exceeded anything I thought it would be like.
The best decision I've made

This experience was truly priceless! Using World Internships and choosing to come to Barcelona were easily two of the greatest decisions I've ever made. I had the best placement possible and was with the sweetest, most wonderful host family. There is absolutely nothing I would change my experience except I wish I stayed longer! When they tell you that you will fall in love, they mean it. I got amazing hands on experience in my field as well as incredible cultural experiences. I didn't know how much you can fall in love with a place until coming to Barcelona. I would do this program a million more times if I could.

This city has took my breathe away since the moment I arrived. It has everything you could imagine and some. From mountains, to the beach, to historical and cultural sites, and more. The city is also very safe to travel around. I have met people from all around the world and been able to learn so much. This has been one of the greatest experiences of my life and I am so happy I had this opportunity. I highly recommend this anyone because you will not regret it.

My internship in Nepal was overall an amazing experience. I feel it definitely helped me not only academically and professionally, but personally as well. I was placed with an NGO that provided me with many opportunities to take charge and be in control of projects. I was given experience in writing reports and proposals and was also able to see many of the different projects that the NGO is involved in. The host family I was placed with were very welcoming and open, as were nearly all of the people that I met and were introduced to throughout my time in Nepal. Most of all, I learned how to take charge of myself and my own learning, edification, and care.
