World Internships Reviews
Good internship, but expected more events
Submitted by Renate - Ghent University | May 22, 2018
My placement is perfect, I am in a small company in the center of Sydney which I asked for with very nice colleagues. They placed me rather quick but I did have to re-explain what I wanted. The first round of companies weren't in my field. The hostel that I'm living in is nice, very friendly staff. The only downside is the kitchen, you have to do the dishes before cooking because yes it is that dirty. And when I arrived here I got a very short orientation, which was basically just a printout of all the things I needed to know and what I could do. Unfortunately after that, I didn't hear from them for 2 months until they planned a social... bowling on a sunny afternoon. I expected to be able to meet more of the interns at least once a month and do something you can only do around Sydney instead of bowling. Overall world internship is very nice and has great support over e-mail and the phone, the company they work with in Sydney however... great internships, not so great interaction.
I'm glad I did it but could use improvements

I was too afraid of going and living in a foreign country on my own and World Internships was that connection and push I needed to actually move to Australia. While preparing for my experience abroad they were great, they had good communication, they helped me with everything, they personally Skyped me, they gave me options with where to intern, they found me housing, and I loved all of that. However there are some negatives. I didn't know my housing situation until days before my departure. My internship placement moved recently and so I ended up with over an hour commute daily. I thought I would be with other interns and have social events but there was none of that. My housing situation was the perfect location (right in the city) but I basically lived in a closet. Overall, there were some negatives but I fell in love with Melbourne (the city I lived in) and got work experience in my industry of interest. Without World Internships I wouldn't have gotten that and I am still happy that I went to them for this experience.
Morocco Spring 2018

I greatly enjoyed my time traveling around Morocco. But, my internship experience was not great. I was given a placement before I arrived but never went there. It was very unorganized. Teachers and host family were great!
Music business internship in Barcelona
Submitted by bartonks196 - SUNY Potsdam | March 19, 2018
My internship in Barcelona was an amazing experience! I loved the city and got very familiar with its different neighborhoods and cultures. My main issue during my stay was my homestay situation - It was nothing like I expected it to be, or how it was advertised to me, and if I had known what my situation would be like, I would have chosen to live in an apartment instead. My internship placement was great and I learned a lot how concert promotion and production companies operate, as well as did a little bit of translating contracts and emails.
Internship in New Zealand
Submitted by Kristen deBarros - VCU Brandcenter | December 23, 2017
I had an amazing time interning at Grizzly Digital in New Zealand. I made many lifelong friends and connections and found New Zealand to be my home away from home. I am thankful for World Internships finding my housing and placing me in an internship. I was able to learn from my new surroundings and explore the beautiful country at the same time. Every day, I wish I could go back!
