Interning in London
Submitted by Grace - Seattle, WA | April 19, 2018
I had an amazing experience with the Intergroup in London. They set me up with a great internship that was exactly what I was looking for. The social outings they held were key to meet other people in the program and they were a great way to make friends from around the world.

Working through the Intern Group has changed my life for the best. Not only did they put me in a fulfilling working environment, but they also ensured that I also had a wonderful experience while visiting the country and allowing me to meet people from all over the world.

I interned in London for six weeks beginning in early January. It was an all around wonderful experience. The Intern Group's London team was extremely helpful and ensured we all had an easy transition to living in a new country. My internship in London was an exciting and rewarding experience, I'd do it all over again in a heartbeat.

I had the best time working abroad in London for 3 months. It was the first time i was away from family and friends in a whole different country, across the other side of the world. I met lots of new friends, connections, built relationships with my colleagues and had a great working holiday!
I was very satisfied with my placement. Working with the recruitment company in finance, i had time to study and increase my financial knowledge of hedge funds and asset management. I working on various research projects, presentation projects for clients, made several phone calls to candidates for potential jobs. I worked well with my colleagues and appreciated their help and support as well as teaching them a few things technology too. haha. We had social events after work which was a great way to get to know the office and just share stories myself and built the connections for future.
I made new friends with all the other interns who were on the program! Everyone from all over the world, even some who i can visit here in Australia!! We went out, traveled together, explored together and did lots more.
The expenses came but all in all, it was the best journey. One which i will cherish all my life and tell stories for years to come! I would highly recommend it, choose whichever program length you feel comfortable with and are financially capable of participating in but go for it! It's a once in a lifetime opportunity. That's how i saw it. The first step of my career.
6 weeks in Medellin

I have had an absolutely fantastic time in Medellin. The Intern Group is an amazing organisation that works hard to place you into an internship that closely reflects your skill set and desires. There is weekly social events which leave you with a group of friends the moment you arrive in the city. The team is a dedicated group of individuals ready to assist you with anything you need (from cultural advice to assistance in medical emergencies to restaurant suggestions) which really makes moving to an entirely different country so much easier. Thank you Intern Group for the amazing experience! I'll never forget my time in Colombia.

Had an amazing time in Shanghai and was well looked after by Tommy and Olivia. The support they provided made the experience a lot more comfortable. The place I interned at, Avia-Tek has provided me with such important experience and has overall helped me develop as a person to be better equiped for the world.
I left part of my heart in Dublin!

I keep telling everyone I left part of my heart in Dublin and it's true! On the surface it might not seem like the brightest or liveliest city, but The Intern Group did an amazing job of showing me the city's true colours.
They hosted regular social events which helped me bond with the other interns. Eventually we were such good friends that we were organising our own events and trips across Ireland. Having that strong social connection and being able to talk openly with The Intern Group meant my internship was stress-free – I was able to slip comfortably into my work role and focus on picking up new skills.
The Intern Group also worked closely with my accommodation to make sure my living situation was comfortable for me, and I really appreciated this. They helped me moved accommodation midway through my internship and they made this very easy for me.
Overall I had an incredible experience during my internship in Dublin and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone who is interested in interning abroad.

The experience of a lifetime

I have thoroughly enjoyed my experience abroad. I not only gained valuable skills I can take back home with me but I also learnt different cultures and gained new international friends. My internship has helped solidify my career path and has also paved a way for me to get my foot in the door. The mentoring I received and being surrounded by colleagues who were passionate in their field has inspired me to push myself and to pursue my goals.
By completing an internship abroad I have made connections with people on this side of the world and have had a glimpse into the European work environment.
I am glad that I bit the bullet and decided to apply for this programme as it has been an invaluable life experience.

The best experience of my life

Travelling to Madrid last summer was undoubtedly the best decision I have ever taken. I have always been keen on gaining cutting edge work experience as well as travel the world, and The Intern Group offered just that. I was warmly welcomed at the airport by a nice and friendly taxi driver who drove me to the apartment and even helped me carry my bags up to the flat ! (that's real customer service right there!).
Talking of the placement itself, TIG placed me with a marketing agency where I learned and developed a wide range of skills in the area of advertising and social media marketing. The close cooperation with the CEO of the company himself shattered the power distance and empowered me to fulfill my potential. Furthermore, we were housed in a cosy apartment in the heart of Madrid near Puerta Del Sol within walking distance from shops, bars, gyms and popular tourist attractions. I can still remember myself walking down Calle Del Arenal all the way down to the Palace via Opera train station while window shopping.
The social activities were just amazing!! TIG took us for a day trip to Toledo and we also visited el Estadio Santiago Bernabeu. It was a huge privilege to visit such a historic city and see where the likes of Zidane and Ronaldo (the real one, LOL) played and made history.
The only downside was that I am a Barcelona fan and my fellow Barca supporters now think I am a traitor ! Well, I think that's something we'll have to resolve and debate internally LOL. With the Barcelona programme now being launched, I will have a chance to clear this up with my boys.

Fulfilling Experience! Totally over-exceeded my expectations.

Hi all! My name is Isabel, I recently graduated from my bachelors degree in Economics. I had the opportunity to do an 6 week internship in Dublin (starting in Nov 2017) and if I can describe in one sentence this experience I would say it is one of the most rewarding ones I have ever had.
First of all, Dublin is such a splendid city to live in. It is secure, open minded and very beautiful. When I live there I enjoyed so much the Pub Culture. People are always so nice and it gives you great chances to meet amazing people. I had the opportunity to meet lifetime friends (this definitely one of the best things of my internship!).
Second, the position I had in a successful Recruitment company was very enriching. As my previous experience was in Business Consulting, I was able to learn more from it! My coworkers were always so nice. I was able to observe their duties in a close way, which allowed me to perform better every day. Also, my boss' main goal was for me to take the best out of the period I was interning with them. We, as a team, always tried to achieve the goals we set at the beginning of the week. In this way, I could develop better my skills. I got an insight in how an international company works, got great s for future opportunities, expand my abilities in different areas of the company (such as recruitment, compliance, research, etc.) and increased my confidence when dealing with all kind of people.
Third, after the 6 week internship was over both the company and myself were very sad to stop working together. We kept in touch couple weeks after and then the great idea of working remotely emerged! Now, the company sent me a computer from Dublin to Mexico (where I am currently living) and we are still working together. Working remotely from such long distance is a very different experience but even more rewarding, as the company is always trying to look the best for both sides.
Finally, I couldn't be more happy for my decision of joining the Intern Group! Dublin team is lovely, always giving support to the interns and trying their best for us to get the real Irish experience. I highly recommend this program, I am sure every single one of you is going to grow in so many ways and this is going to develop greatly your true self for the future.
Thank you for reading this! I believe in your abilities to choose right!
I wish you all the best!
