One of the best experiences in my life
Submitted by Mikela Kring - Copenhagen Denmark | April 27, 2018
I was a medical volunteer in Fewa City Hospital in Pokhara, Nepal.
I am a pre-med graduate from Denmark meaning that I had no previous hands-on experience.
But I still got to observe, participate and help so many people. It was wonderful, challenging, educational and eye-opening. I learned so much medicine, medicine in a Third World country and the Nepali culture. Words cannot describe how much I learned and developed, I enjoyed this so much. But it should be noted that this particular volunteering program is not for those who are afraid to ask questions and take initiative. Your learning and participation is your own responsibility. Noone will be there to hold your hand and explain everything to you. You must ask questions, study at home to understand the cases better, engage yourself and put in the time. The more you give, the more you get!

What a treat to have worked with you on this placement. Your passion and commitment to the program were outstanding and it has been amazing to share in your journey and experiences.
Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts and advice with future volunteers in this review. There is nothing better than first-hand accounts to prepare volunteers and your candid and detailed comments will be sure to inspire and encourage others.
Thanks again, so much, for everything. We wish you all the very best for your medical studies and career and hope to have you back with us again.

Volunteering in Ecuador
Submitted by Lisa Sloan - Chelan United States | April 04, 2018
I did a six week volunteer placement at an animal rescue and rehab center in Puyo, Ecuador. Working at the project, was such a wonderful experience, my favorite placement (I've done 4) so far. Very well organized, lots of with the animals and meaningful work. In addition to our daily rounds of feeding the animals and cleaning their enclosures we had a variety of other projects, maintaining and creating animal habitat and enrichment. The accommodations and the climate were somewhat challenging, just what you would expect living in the Amazon jungle. The staff at the center are wonderful, kind, helpful and inclusive. Ecuador is a wonderful country to visit, lots of variety in climate and activities. Something for everyone!

Thanks for this amazingly informative and concise account of volunteering with the animals in Ecuador. It's been such an honour to have you on our programs over the years and to have you share your experiences with others is invaluable in encouraging and preparing future volunteers.
Thanks so much and we look forward to seeing where in the world you will go to help next!

Excellent -- both the project and Love Volunteers
Submitted by Colleen - Chevy Chase United States | April 03, 2018
My 14-year-old daughter were only able to go for a week (during Holy Week) but it was still a very positive experience. Both Love Volunteers and the project are very organized -- and the project is a very well-run organization that ensures an education for children whose other option would be a life of selling trinkets on the street. I was very impressed with the work they are doing -- they are clearly "in it for the long-haul" and making a significant, positive impact.

We're so pleased that you and Katriana fulfilled your intention to have fun and help the children in Oaxaca, Mexico.
Even a short space of time spent encouraging and enlightening the lives of these children is so valuable and a continuum of volunteers provide ongoing support to change the course of lives and lift people from the cycle of poverty.
Thanks again, both for your commitment to the program and for sharing your experiences to encourage and inform others.
We with you both all the very best and hope to have you back with us again soon.

Opportunity to be part of the solution
Submitted by John - Perth Australia | April 01, 2018
I had a wonderful time in Cambodia working with an NGO which provides support to rural communities to adopt sustainable farming practices. Everyone I met was friendly and appreciative, ranging from the manager of the NGO I worked with to the fellow volunteers living at the volunteer accommodation. I had plenty of free time to explore Cambodia and have some experiences I would never have at home.

It's fantastic to see how rewarding your time spent on this program was; both for you and for the communities you were assisting through the work of the NGO in Phnom Penh.
Cambodia is such a special place and captures of the heart of all who visit. The desire to help is felt by many and you and volunteers before and after you are making a very real difference in bringing the gradual change that's been occurring post genocide.
Thank-you from all of us at Love Volunteers and our partner in Cambodia.
