Volunteering for 2 weeks in Cape Town

I volunteered in Cape Town doing the childcare program for 2 weeks and it was amazing. I wish I could’ve stayed longer, but unfortunately I couldn’t take any more time off school. Arriving at the daycare every morning and seeing how happy the kids were to see me was such an amazing feeling!! They were the cutest and always had something they wanted to tell me. They were the best part of the day and I miss them so much.
I’m really glad I chose IVHQ to travel with. They had so many projects and so many destinations to choose from at such affordable prices compared to other volunteer companies. The staff at my placement were also so nice and welcoming. I met some really cool people as well. I would love to volunteer with IVHQ again in the future, and will definitely stay longer because 2 weeks wasn’t enough!

my second with ivhq

its my second time volunteering with IVHQ and im really happy that i was allowed to repeat the experience with them, Bali is a really unique place different from what you will see in any island of the world, our volunteer house was in a not touristic place, more local-farm place near ubud which for me was a big plus since i wanted to immerse in the culture o bali. the orientation week was great since it was a nice introduction to the island, their religion, their food, their culture, their handcrafting. and also was an opportunity to meet with the other volunteers. My project was health care education in a school for kids between ages 10-11, i really love the experience but i know i could do more than that so the coordinators algo allow me to be in the kindergarten project at the same time, i was really happy with both projects and in both of them i receive a lot from the coordinators. the house that i was staying was great, the food also was incredible and it was i nice touch from the coordinators to make a goodbye activities every Thursday to say thanks to the volunteers that were leaving, you can see that they really want to grow as groups and make a change, overall im really happy with the experience, it gave me more than i was expecting and also make me grow as a person in a lot of ways

A great volunteer and diving experience in Belize

My son and I were on Tom Owens Caye with Reef CI last week. The program was outstanding! The dive instructors and support staff were wonderful. The locations we dove were interesting and diverse. Willy, Pete, Felix and Matt were knowledgeable, and committed to both safety and fun. The cooks prepared great food, and it was plentiful! The housekeeper truly cared the guests comfort, ensuring rooms were kept clean daily. We would return in the future, definitely. Thank you for a great week!

Impressed!

By far the best volunteer program out there

I LOVED using IVHQ to volunteer in Zimbabwe. It was easy to navigate the website and find which program you wanted to take part in, and the company gives you all the information you need before you go! I felt safe and excited to take my trip knowing that I was doing it with IVHQ. The hardest part going to another country is knowing what to expect, and IVHQ made sure that you knew before you went. I cannot wait to book through IVHQ again.

Volunteering in Sri Lanka

I volunteered in Sri Lanka with IVHQ. A lot has been said the program already. Ultimately, I think, the only way to truly understand what it is like is to get on a plane and go. Just go. Anyone who is thinking volunteering, do it. IVHQ does a great job at simplifying the process prior to departure. Samantha was always available and ready to answer all my questions. In Sri Lanka, the local team was genuinely helpful, the work was rewarding, and all the volunteers I met along the way were wonderful people. It was hard to leave even after only a few weeks.

A life changing experience!

I cannot recommend the island outreach program enough! From the moment i arrived in Madagascar i received so much support from the local staff and other volunteers. The staff made sure i was safe and comfortable in my accommodation and always wanted to know feedback to help the programs grow which i think is brilliant. The program itself was life changing and is an experience that will stay with me forever. It helped me get out of my comfort zone, grow as a person and i really felt like i had an impact on the local communities and wildlife. Every second of the program was incredible and i have made such good friends from the experience. If you're thinking doing the island outreach program then just go for it! You won't regret it

Amazing experience

IVHQ is my third volunteer program and by far my favourite and the most affordable! I travelled to Bali-Ubud for 3 weeks on the Kindergarten project. I have travelled with a few different volunteer organizations, IVHQ is for sure the one I will go back too! I had a such a great experience as IVHQ provided a volunteer house with amazing kitchen staff, and coordinators that provided the support I needed along with an amazing orientation week. The online training before hand was well worth it and helped me get into the right mindset for what I was going to experience.
I recommend IVHQ to anyone who wants the freedom to travel but also have enough support and structure for a volunteer project. You are able to choose a project that is right for you. I loved my kindergarten class and honestly 3 weeks was NOT enough.

Turtle conservation project in Costa Rica

Costa Rica's Turtle Conservation Project was one thing I will never forget! Such an eye opening and amazing experience. The IHQV program is an amazing way to explore the world in a feasible way. Not only is it affordable but I would have never experienced anything like it! IHQV Brings so much more, more ham any guided tour, more than a resort, and more than anything you could experience on your own. They have demonstrated such strong dedication to make sure every part of the trip is a great learning exprenice while keeping it fun. One of my most memeroble moments would be seeing the indangered leather back turtle lay her eggs. Because the leather back is in such danger it is critical that her eggs are gathered and re-nested in the hatchery where they can be taken care of and monitered to keep them safe from predators. I was lucky enough to be able to personally collect her eggs and dig a new nest to place each egg carfully. It was truley an amazing experience. I wish I could go back to see them hatch! Not only was this such an amazing experience, but every single person I met on this trip through the program m, I will dearly miss. IHQV brings everyone with similar ambitions together and from all over the world. I loved to meet people from the UK, Australia and Italy. Never could I go anywhere and meet such amazing people in one single place. I would recommend this program a million times. Leaving was hard, I'll miss my friends I have made and most importantly all the work that was done everyday to help such a wonderful project!

volunteer teaching in Sri Lanka

Anyone thinking of doing this program should definitely do it. I was a bit hesitant at first but once I committed I didn't look back. I felt so safe and supported and there was always someone to talk to if I needed some help. The choice of programs were extensive and the living quarters were very clean and. I think IVHQ offers great value for money and I spent much less money when I was there than I thought I would. The staff and other volunteers were all lovely and I felt very comfortable there.

An experience I truly cherish!

My time volunteering in Naples, Italy with IVHQ and the local team at INN is an experience that I hold extremely close to my heart!

I applied for the Environmental Project for 2 months, and the team provided me with all the help before departure, including help with the visa. My work involved helping with the animals in a farm that was located on a hill that overlooked the gorgeous city of Napoli and the sea! It was such an awarding experience to help with the animals at the farm, I felt so much at peace whenever I was there. The local staff was always there to help you in any aspect and they make sure you feel at home! The best part is how the atmosphere there is very positive and pleasant, the local people are great and always ready to help with a smile.

Naples is definitely a city to go with an open mind and get lost in its beauty while exploring, and the location where the accommodation is located is in a wonderful area full of young people, plus there is also the chance to visit so many nearby cities during the weekends. Add to that the delicious food that you will never get bored of!

Volunteering in Naples is an experience that will leave you with friends that you will always stay in touch with, a lot of cultural immersion, immense personal growth, and a definite wish to return. I could not have asked for a better 2 months, and wish to be back soon !!

IVHQ South Africa

I volunteered in South Africa with IVHQ surf outreach. We surfed and played everyday with the children of the townships. My heart is forever in South Africa. What an amazing experience, the children don't have lives like most, but make the most out of everyday. They have so much passion for life. Everyone forgets all their worries, and just goes for it in the waves, having a blast everyday. I met volunteers from around the world here, and I think of them as family now. So many adventures and memories this experience was everything I could have asked for. IVHQ did a wonderful job, from the airport pick up, to the housing, food, and 24 hour support. I loved volunteering so much I plan on going again!

Magic!

I went to Cusco in June-July, for 5 weeks! I volunteered 3 weeks in a school with kids and 2 weeks in the zoo of the University. Both of programs was so much fun ! Just a little warning : don't accept the food at the school , the kid and the teacher can put some pression but it's important to say NO! I said yes and i've made an indigestion 2 hours after, for 5 days... nice ! Additionally, the staff is really amazing and always there if you need help! My host-family was really cool and we were 13 volunteers in the same house , so its easy to make activity with them during the evening! In perou, I've discover some wonderful people, amazing places, good food and a different culture! My best memories was to visit Plaza del Armas, the Macchu Picchu, rainbow mountain, moray, salt mines and the lake Titicaca during the weekend. The organisation American Inca Trail is a great staff to organize your tour! Finally, Just do it !

Special needs in Kenya!

I just finished my time in Kenya volunteering with Special Needs! The time spent was not long enough! I was so pleased with the communication of the team for local placement, local transportation, and even back at the office with IVHQ. You have to be open minded and ready for anything, and you will have a GREAT experience. The orientation really helped prep me for what to expect as far as making Kenya home for my time here, and my home stays were welcoming and treated me like family. Plus I have made friends for life with the other volunteers! I fell in love with all the children at my placement, and I was so sad to leave! I am already planning my return back to stay longer. I also got the opportunity to go on a safari and see an amazing city tour, thanks to the companies IVHQ partnered with. I always felt taken care of, which is important! Highly recommend and to come ready for anything!!

Wild elephant program

My time in Sri Lanka was second to none! Getting to help conserve wild elephants while seeing many other species of mammals, birds, and reptiles was incredible! The staff become good friends if you stay long enough and the food alone is worth staying for! Some of the best I’ve ever eaten! I highly recommend this program to anyone who loves conservation or nature!

IVHQ Bali will change you

I went into IVHQ looking for an organization that is reasonably costly for the volunteer to be able to actually give quality assistance to whatever is they want to support. It was my first time volunteering abroad and it had exceeded my expectations above and beyond. IVHQ is a very well organized volunteering website that gives accurate information, I had called in and spoken to the office on the phone many of times and the staff are professional and absolutely lovely. Volunteering at Green Lion Bali was life altering and the love of the staff there and many life lessons I learned there have all been thanks to IVHQ.

Thank you guys!

Great experience

My family (4 kids from 17 to 8) and I had a really good experience working with the VCE Street Children program. It was hard work, but really rewarding! The volunteer coordinators, host family and everyone involved made it a good experience. We don't speak a lot of Spanish in the family, but that didn't hinder us too much in working with the children. We felt like we had an opportunity to contribute in a small way to the experience and hope that others continue to select and participate in the program.

My volunteer time in Antigua, Guatemala; (Toronto, Canada)

Buenos Días! My experience with International Volunteer HQ, Maximo Nivel was wonderful. It's always been my dream to volunteer abroad and I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to do so. During my two weeks in Antigua, I volunteered at an orphanage and at a construction site where I had the opportunity to assist in building a local medical clinic for the Guatemalan population. Throughout my volunteer journey, I was constantly learning something new the Guatemalan culture, environment, and meeting new people from around the world. What I loved most my volunteer experience was there was always something new happening every day. For example, I had the opportunity to participate in creating Alfombras for Semana Santa with the Maximo Nivel staff and volunteers. This allowed me to meet new people and learn the beautiful culture. My host family was amazing! They were accommodating and very understanding. The staff at Maximo Nivel were supportive, sincere, and accommodating. They made my experience even more enjoyable. Maximo Nivel offered various classes, programs, and excursions for volunteers that were engaging, interactive, and simply fun. Although having a background in Spanish was not necessary for my volunteer projects, it was sometimes difficult to speak to the locals so please keep in mind to learn a bit of Spanish before you volunteer in Antigua. I also took donations with me and it made a huge difference for the Guatemalan community. Overall my experience with International Volunteer HQ, Maximo Nivel was amazing and rewarding. The fact that I was able to create an impact on thousands of lives during my time in Antigua simply made me realize that I can do more in other countries. I recommend those of you that want to make a difference in the world to check out IVHQ. Thank you International Volunteer HQ, Maximo Nivel for making my time in Guatemala surreal!

Guatemala

Hi, I'm Deenuka from Toronto and I just got back from my two week volunteer medical position from Guatemala. To sum up my experience- it was amazing! I went with no expectations and came back super happy. I worked at a local village at a family care clinic called Mother Theresa. The difference in medicine from North America to Guatemala really did open my eyes. I got to see a whole new side to Medical are that I have never seen before. The people of Guatemala are so generous, welcoming and are so grateful for any help that they receive. My favourite part of my trip was when I got to go to a old age home and do complete check ups. The elders were so happy and appreciative of all our help. Initially the thought of setting up this volunteer position was daunting, I didn't know where to start. IVHQ did such a thorough job giving us simple steps and guild lines to follow to make our registration process seamless. Any questions I had they got back to me within a day. The project managers on site- Maximo Nivel were also amazing. They were so helpful and accommodating and made sure we felt welcomed. Although I was in a different country that I've never been to before, I had comfort knowing that I had such warm people around. Over all, the whole experience was a positive one from setting up the project to physically being there to volunteer. Thank you IVHQ and Maximo Nivel for making such a positive influence and allowing me to be apart of it.

It was great to read that you thoroughly enjoyed your time on the Guatemala program, especially your time with the elders providing them with complete check-ups. The elders appreciate this very much so I am happy that you got to be apart of it, along with seeing a whole new side to medical. Our aim is to make your volunteering journey as stress-free as possible so I am glad IVHQ and our local team in Guatemala made you feel comfortable in a different country. Once in a lifetime experience

This was my first time volunteering abroad and I am so glad that I was able to volunteer with this program and with the people I got to volunteer with. Everyone was so kind, friendly, and welcoming the moment I arrived.

If you have ever wanted to volunteer abroad and don't know where to start, look no further than IVHQ and if you love outdoors then choose to volunteer in Vic Falls. This program and these people have changed my life and I can't thank them enough for the love and joy they brought into my life during those 2 weeks!

I can not say enough this experience. The Green Lion organization that I worked with through IVHQ were incredible. Kathmandu, Nepal

I just returned home from a 2 week trip to Kathmandu, Nepal volunteering with IVHQ in Childcare. The entire pre-process was so easy and the IVHQ staff answered all my questions along the way. The cost was completely reasonable and there were no hidden costs. The experience in Nepal was life changing. The orientation was comprehensive. I felt comfortable starting this new adventure. The home stay was comfortable and the family was kind and helpful. The staff in Nepal took care of every detail from ensuring my placement best fit my needs to organizing weekend adventures. I would highly recommend volunteering with IVHQ.

Teaching in Ghana with IVHQ

My two months with IVHQ Ghana opened my eyes, and heart, in a way I have never experienced before. I went through the teaching program but was able to participate in agriculture and medical events as well, which was amazing since I was able to learn even more through that! I learned so much not only the culture, educational system, and way of life, but also myself. The staff (and locals!) are all so friendly, welcoming, and encouraging. I was able to build relationships with people from across the globe, while also knowing I was making a difference in people's lives, even if in the smallest of ways. Staff members offered support and assistance whenever asked, and checked in every couple of weeks to make sure things were going well with the program/placements. I am excited to begin planning my next adventure to a new country with IVHQ!

Slum teaching - Delhi

I volunteered in New Delhi, India in a Slum School placement from February 17th for 3 weeks. My experience in India with IVHQ was brilliant, from the moment I registered to my flight home. The admin staff answered all questions and concerns that I had while applying very promptly and the website layout was very user friendly. All the information you need including Visa information / specific country information is there in a informal format that was very useful for me. Anything that wasn’t there was answered within 24 hours via email.

The staff in Delhi were also outstanding. They went above and beyond to make all the volunteers feel comfortable attending to our every need. We felt very valued and like part of the family from the get go! They even helped us organise tourist trips over weekends, finding us good price hotels and transport... very helpful when we need a translator! They are clearly passionate and made our experience 100 times better.

Our accommodation was clean and comfortable in spacious apartments... there was 3 to 4 beds to a room but if you require a private room this could be catered for for an extra price. The food was AMAZING. Every day was different and there was plenty of it! All made very fresh and piping hot. Filter water available for free water bottle refills.

Our placement in the slum school was crazy but we eased in rather fast. Our placements were definitely in the most in need areas which made them challenging but all the more rewarding. I will always remember the children I worked with and my amazing experience teaching them. I feel very lucky.

As long as you come with an open mind, ready to work hard and ready to receive a whole lot of love from the kids you will love IVHQ Delhi.

My incredible 3-weeks in Bogotá with IVHQ

I've always known that I would volunteer internationally one day. I knew I wanted to teach and I knew it would be somewhere in America Latina: the only thing I didn't know was how should I do it. Then, one day, I saw that a colleague of mine was volunteering with IVHQ in Indonesia and I immediately searched all I could the organization and I understood it would be my best option: they guaranteed me support, a house, food, with other volunteers and specific programs for a very decent value (I'm aware that the idea of "paying to volunteer" may be weird for some but, in my case, I knew I was paying for safety and all-time support and, being my first experience, I needed that to be confident enough to do something like this).
In the pre-volunteering weeks all my questions were answered in time and with detail, making me more excited and hopeful for the weeks to come. The volunteering itself was everything i could have asked for. I was lucky enough to meet some amazing volunteers that I will keep in my heart forever, with whom i visited Bogota, went out at night, travelled to other parts of Colombia on weekends, arranged future get-together's... The coordinators were kind and helpful, treating us like family and making sure we always felt at home. The house was always clean and cosy and, honestly, I felt so much at my own house during those weeks that I even miss that bunk bed. And last but definitely not least: the programs. I taught English to young kids and university students, contrasting environments that allowed me to interact with different people and be aware of the different struggles they go through. Moreover, I was allowed to help in other projects, such as the homeless one, and to have all these possibilities was incredibly rewarding.
Therefore, my advice is simple: if you want to volunteer with an organization that guides you through all steps and makes sure you have the most fulfilling experience ever than IVHQ is the right choice for you.
