Highly recommend!!

Studying abroad through CISAbroad was a great experience for me. I really appreciated how easy and organized the application process was through the portal online. Once you get accepted be sure to find or ask for the Facebook group as the information posted in there is often very important as soon as you land in Thailand! I had a positive experience with all the on site staff, they were amazing and answered all of my questions as soon as they could.

Mahidol was a little unorganized at times. The campus was beautiful and the teachers were great, but the school's orientation could have actually gave us a tour or told us all of the services offered around campus. When we had to renew our visas lots of students were confused with the process so just keep asking questions so you don't make a mistake. The on site coordinators helped to the best of their ability but it was really up to Mahidol to help us. Many people said the classes at Mahidol were easier than their home university classes, for me it really depended on the class and the teacher. Many classes (especially science classes) provided paid for field trips, which were amazing. There are also lots of clubs and activities where you might do a day trip or a weekend trip to different places like a sea turtle rehab, or a trip to Ayutthaya.

The excursions CISabroad provided were amazing, definitely would've liked to spend more time in Chiang Mai and Koh Chang but if you chose to leave earlier or stay later than CIS they worked with you to pick you up or meet you somewhere when they got there.

We got to choose between Baan Suan or Bundit housing. Both had pros and cons. Baan Suan didn't have a van to get to Mahidol like Bundit but CISabroad provided each of us cash for taking taxis to school. The bus system is awesome and cheaper too, but involves walking over a bridge to get to campus. The beds could have been more comfortable, but that is kind of across Thailand.

Some other cool things that CIS provided us was a cellphone with 2gb of data per month. You could also buy more data or minutes if you wanted to. I mostly used my phone for gps when we went into the city and I decided not to use it. If your phone is unlocked you can insert the SIM card CIS gives you in your own phone, which I highly recommend because the phone they give us is understandably poor quality. Everything that they fed us on excursions was always really good, they always had, vegetarian options but you usually have to let them know if you want it. During our last week they took us to a pretty fancy upscale hotel's buffet and we got to gorge on all different foods and desserts, and then we took a bunch of photos and said our goodbyes. Those memories will forever be in my heart.

I highly recommend studying abroad through CIS!

Semester in Thailand - amazing!

It was the experience of a lifetime! I made memories that will last forever and such amazing friendships. The cultural aspect of Thailand was my favorite. Everyone is so friendly and helpful and it was incredible learning how different societal norms can be somewhere else.

Best time of my life

CISabroad provided me with the best possible abroad experience. I had never been away from home for so long, and CIS gave me with many s for me to reach out to, and just different things to do for me to feel comfortable. Though when I was there, I was immersed in such a different experience that I never felt uncomfortable, as it was so interesting to be a part of and learn a new culture. The excursions CIS took me on were incredible! Elephants, floating markets, and bungalows over the water, I couldn't ask for much else. It was truly the best time of my life, and I would not change it for anything.

Study abroad fall 2017

My semester abroad in Thailand was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. My classes were manageable and allowed for optimal travel during my weekends. The cost of living in Southeast Asia is minimal so I was able to travel nearly every weekend and travelled throughout Thailand and to Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, and India. The cost of the CIS program is also extremely affordable and includes many excursions that would have been more expensive had you done it alone. The on site Thai staff was helpful but the company and the head of the Thailand Program in country were a bit disorganized and not always the most help. That being said, they always responded quickly if you had a question and were always warning us if there were issues going on in other countries, the Bali volcano eruption for example. Overall, I loved my experience and it is a great opportunity for those looking for good food, cheap travel, and awesome cultural experiences!

Mahidol fall 2017

Mahidol as a school was actually very difficult to work with. There were several elements that proved very frustrating due to needed transferability of courses to my home university. The team at CIS was fantastic. Very responsive and good resources. The programmed trips were diverse and properly outfitted.

Semester in Thailand

Semester in Thailand with CISabroad was an amazing experience for me. I love to travel, and often do so on my own, but this program allowed me to be a student in another country which was a unique experience. The university was larger than my home university, meaning that I was almost overwhelmed by the level of opportunities available. The apartment we stayed in was run by locals which provided for a great cultural immersion. Everything Thailand was both new and exciting, from the people, the food, the religion, and the culture. It was also a great starting point from which to visit other surrounding countries during the weekends. I recommend this program to anyone ready for a new experience.

Semester in Thailand

Studying abroad is something that I suggest for everyone, no matter his or her field of interest or past experience with travel (or lack thereof). I studied abroad last year with CISabroad Semester in Thailand. I had traveled quite a bit before that, but it truly provided me with a unique experience and taught me many lessons. Prior to that program, I had mainly traveled with family. Studying abroad with CISabroad provided the perfect mix of self-sufficiency and intensive support system. My experience abroad taught me to rely on myself in new ways, and I discovered how much I love to travel solo. This summer, I intend to do exactly that. While I learned this myself, I also really appreciated the structure of the Semester Abroad program. There were multiple people from the program that were based in Thailand and they were always very friendly and helpful. They always offered advice and guidance when needed. The other participants in the program were also a major highlight. Not only did we enjoy having classes together, we also traveled together on the weekends. There were multiple excursions planned by CISabroad during the semester. These provided a great way to see more of Thailand, without having to worry logistics because everything was taken care of. All in all, I suggest the program to anyone interested in visiting South East Asia. I am already wishing I could return!

Thailand <3

I loved everything my semester in Thailand. After contemplating for 2 years going abroad, I'm glad I went because it has helped me grow as an individual, see the other side of the world in a different view, be more open-minded, and meet amazing people! Being abroad has allowed me get out of my comfort zone and experience things that I would have never gotten to experience because I got to use the excuse "I'm only in Thailand, once. So, just do it!" instead of debating if I should've done it or not (whatever the excursion was). Being abroad, I had made amazing friends, created great memories, and enjoyed seeing a lot of what Thailand had to offer- my favorite thing Thailand that I would never forget is the ELEPHANTS. But aside from all of the fun things that I have done, I've gotta say, the program staff was very helpful! The staff was great (still is!) and I've had no problems with anything from the time I applied to the time I got back from my trip.

Thailand Spring 2015

The best decision of my life was to study abroad in Thailand this past spring. I stayed in Baan Suan apartments with just everyone else and we grew into a tight, family-like community. Between the friends made at school, the ones made traveling, the food, the local people, and the sights, studying abroad in Thailand was an absolutely magical and unforgettable experience.

CIS? More like.. it's the best!

I had an eye-opening and life-altering experience while studying through CISabroad in Thailand. I now recommend everyone I know to study abroad through CIS if they have the opportunity to do so. I am so grateful and indebted to CIS for an experience of a lifetime.

Spring 2015

I had a great time, the only thing I would have changed is living in a place more like green park. I was always over there and it was just much easier to meet people there, although Bundit had the best food options around which i was very pleased with.

Same Same, but Different

When originally planning on studying abroad the Asian continent never came to mind as some place I'd be interested in. It wasn't until the program I initially wanted to do got cancelled that I started to look at other options. I saw some pictures of Thailand and the price of a semester and that they taught biology courses and I was sold! The application wasn't too difficult, although the deadlines were hard to reach because I decided so last minute to go. Going to Thailand was one of the best decisions I have made and I am so thankful that I chose Mahidol. Two of my courses were rather difficult but the four day weekends and country hopping made it worth it. It was so easy to travel anywhere, by bus, minivan, and plane. Bangkok is a major international hub so we got flights to various countries for $100. I was able to go to Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Laos, and Myanmar during my short 4 month stay. While the travels were absolutely amazing it was also amazing to meet and become so close to so many people in such a short time. Thai way of life is definitely different than America and they hardly get into any arguments; its really amazing to live and be a part of a different culture for an extended period of time.

Semester in Thailand

Overall the semester was pretty awesome. The trips that the program provided were mostly awesome. Being able to visit other countries on the weekends, on a whim, was amazing. Thai culture is amazing, Thailand wasn't initially my first choice, but it's not one I regret. It was the experience of a lifetime.

It's what you make of it

Everyone who went had an awesome time, some people stayed amongst themselves, others socialized more. I chose CIS because it was the cheapest program I could find, I have no complaints. Make sure to go on the elephant trek and chiang Mai, Phorn and David were great, always really helpful and approachable. Join clubs at the school, the Thais are all super friendly, but shy. I miss it so much. In the end CIS was not what made the trip awesome, but it was the icing on the cake so to say. I'd recommend my experiences and this package to anyone.

Thailand is amazing

This is a great program. The staff is there when you need them. Mahidol's campus is gorgeous. I highly recommend it for anyone who is interested in the region. The campus is just outside of Bangkok so you have easy access to the city with out the constant hustle and bustle of being downtown. Cheers to David and Phorn.

CIS Thailand Fall 2014

Small Town Girl in a Big City

A large reason I chose to study in SE Asia - massive city Bangkok - is put myself into a long term situation that will force me to get lost in the hustle and bustle and prove to myself that I can survive. I did survive, I enjoyed myself, I've been uncomfortable, I've grown more confident, I am less afraid to put myself in strange situations. I met amazing people from all around the world. It was a European and Asian experience at once which I don't think can be said much from European study abroad programs. I was hoping to experience more of the religious side of Thailand, it is present but getting involved was more difficult that I was expecting. If I had a do over the only thing I would change is that I became more involved religiously, but Bangkok - Thailand - South East Asia is an amazing place.

Semester in Thailand

My semester in Thailand was everything I could have asked for and more. The program was well organized and provided helpful support throughout the course of my semester. David and his helpers were just awesome and the excursions provided for immersion into Thai culture with an amazing group of people. I would definitely recommend going through the CISabroad program rather than setting up a study abroad myself.

Cultural experience great but school not like home

Upon arriving Thailand itself has been a great cultural learning experience, traveling through Thailand made me appreciate more of what I had at home. However the education at Mahidol University lacks the appeal I can appreciate. In all my class I was the only westerner and with Thai teachers learning was a bit difficult at times trying to understand their English. Most of my class were Midterm-Final meaning those were the only grades you have in the class. Hopefully you able to grasp the concepts easily because if not you maybe doomed.

Best experience of my life so far!

My semester in Thailand was my first experience outside of the country. At first I was very nervous, but once I got there all my fears vanished. I felt very safe. I met amazing people. I ate amazing food. And I saw amazing sites. It was the best time of my life and I am so thankful that I had this opportunity. I think everyone should take this opportunity if it comes to you. And going with a program in school is a great first time experience too. It gives you some structure but is still a very independent experience. I feel more comfortable now and can't wait to travel on my own!

Program Administration:
Very helpful. Always checking in.

Health and Safety:
I lived in a gated community with security guards on the clock at all times so I felt really safe. Also, the program staff would me every time something was happening in the area to make sure I was safe.

Social Life:
Living in Salaya, there wasn't a ton of things to do in the area. But Bangkok isn't too far to go and do things.

Experience is your Own

When traveling it is important to remember that your experience is what you make it. This country was an amazing one to be in, with unique culture, food, people, and places. Regardless of your program the experience is your own. CIS was a good program but after speaking with other students I would have hoped to had chose differently when it came to participation and support.

Health and Safety:
There is crime in every country. Thailand was exposed as a more dangerous country, but being from an Urban community it was no different. Basic rules apply

Social Life:
So much to do from, biking, swimming, fishing, shopping, clubbing, cooking
